I had one of those days today.  You know the kind.  First off, I left my cell phone at home.  Then as I was running errands after work I locked my keys in the car while it was still running.  I borrowed the phone of the place i was doing business when misfortune struck me but my husband want answering his cell; he too forgot his at home.  I somehow managed to still have my office keys on me so I walked the half mile back to the office and waited for my hubby to get done teaching GRE Prep so I could have him rescue me.

He walked home from work, got my spare key, drive to my office and then picked me up.  I in turn treated him to dinner at a restaurant of his choice.  What a good man! All told the car ran an hour and a half.

When I finally got home I set to making a denim purse.  I didn't care for how the lining came out.  It seems to bulky.  I may opt out of a lining tomorrow.  We'll see.

I adjusted the side buttons by bringing them down about an inch.  This adjust makes the purse look much better when the strap is in the down position.  (You will notice that the purse developed horns when the strap was in the down position, as in the first photo.)  My adjustment has taken care of this issue.

A day at the lake

Yesterday I only had a few minutes for crafting at the end of the day.  My husband and I spent the day at a friend's camp, with other church members.  We had the option of row boating, paddle boating, motor boating, water skiing, swimming, or just enjoying the sunshine from the dock.  I was among the swimmers.  Somehow it seemed much more fun than the last time I found myself in this black colored lake.  Not being able to see through the water must have bothered me a lot last time (that, and the bugs!).  This time, I was carefree and enjoyed every second of it.

Those that chose to swim headed out for a rock formation that is slightly more than half way across the lake.  I was the last one to reach the rock, having been cumbered down by a life jacket I had been sitting on in the water when I was just playing in it by myself (before my companions worked up the courage to get into the water).

I swam more than half-way to the rocks while holding onto my life vest with one hand and trying to keep my swimming bottom on with the other.  Everyone patiently waited for me, cheering me along all the while.  I eventually swam to one of the paddle boaters and handed her my life vest.  Once free of the life vest I started making a hurt on the distance that remained.  A little further on and I handed my swimming shoes off to the same paddle boater (who was just going back and forth, apparently!).

I then quickly make it to the rocks.  Once I got there I stood on top of them and started screaming, "I made it! Hallelujah!"  Or some such nonsense.  The four of us rested for a short while when the motor boat pulled up and a few kids jumped out and swam to us.

Of the seven of us on the rocks, only two of us decided to swim back; Darrell and myself.  Yay to me!  This was no small feat for a chubby woman like myself.

Below is the path we took (more or less...  I understand I was zigzagging quite a bit).

By the time I got home I only had the energy to make a key fob for my niece.  I'll post it later.

Tonight I didn't have much time to craft;  I didn't step foot into my craft room until 9:15.  But I desperately wanted to do some crafting so I decided to use up a few of the tiger print scraps to make a small change purse to go with the tiger print purse I made the other day, which, by the way, has already been eagerly claimed by one of my nieces.

I didn't have a pattern so I just made it up as I went along.  After all, it can't be much different than a purse, right???  I dunno.

Anyhow, here is how it came out.  Keep in mind that I accidentally sewed the flap on inside out.  I intended it to be a black flapped, tiger printed, change purse.  And that way the button would stand out against the black fabric.  I'll consider fixing it but not tonight.  Right now the hay is hitting me.  Nighty night!

I finally made it to the end of this black fabric.  Who'd have guessed I would have made a zillion purses with it; more like four?  I'm not sure what I'll do next so I guess it'll be a surprise for all.  Enjoy!

Tiger Mom Purse

The alarm woke me at 5 am and by 5:30 I was working on finishing yesterday's tiger print purse.  So I guess when I come home tonight I can set to work on something new. Smiles.

I didn't have a whole lotta time to craft tonight so I didn't finish the purse I started making, but I did get quite a bit done before my hubby came to get me for our date night.  We went to dinner and a movie.  At the movies we saw Grease with a very young John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. Since this musical came out when I was only four I never got to see it on the big screen.  It was such a fun experience, though.  I haven't been to a movie in a long time where everyone leaves the theater sounding so happy.  So, though I didn't finish my project I'm going to bed feeling pretty cheery anyway.

This is what I've done so far:

It's nearly 3:30 in the morning.  I've been up all night.  Couldn't sleep a single wink.  So I wandered into my craft room and set to work as this helps get my mind off of what's keeping me awake.

Since I wasn't hurrying to get finished with my project I was able to take the time to pin and iron everything over and over.  Pin, iron...  Sew, iron...  Pin, iron...

Below are pictures of the purse I made.  I hope you enjoy my sleepless night's labor.

Moved the button a little and turned it:

I didn't get a chance to craft yesterday.  It was kind of strange, too, cause I've been on quite a roll this month.  But some days are just meant for other things.  Yesterday I said farewell to a friend who passed away this weekend.  At the memorial service his family said some beautifully touching things about him.  Afterwards, my husband and i took the new professor out for trivia with the gang.  I got home late and crashed in bed.  And that was that!  But we'll see what this afternoon brings.

Today my husband, who is a university professor, returns to work.  As he starts a new semester and sets new goals I thought I would too.  So, I decided to get up a little earlier (and thus go to bed earlier) to get a better start on the day.  As a result, I was done working at the office by 3 pm and was able to head home to craft before dinner.  Here is this afternoon's project:

I hope you enjoy this black and pink purse.
Yesterday I made plans to craft during the afternoon.  I had high hopes of making a purse, a bowl and a toddler dress.  I didn't get all three projects done but as Meatloaf put it, "Two out of three ain't bad."

Tonight I found a little time to finish the purse I started yesterday afternoon.  The remainder of the work didn't take long and I'm happy with the outcome.

Here are some photos.  Enjoy!

I had been making a new purse in my craft room when BOOM!  I turned into a pumpkin.  More specifically I ran out of time and went to the state fair with my husband.  This is what I've gotten done so far:

I had originally chosen a pink lining but it didn't seem to fit properly in the purse so I cut a new one out of this other fabric I had lying around.  I'll try to finish it tomorrow night and post pics of the finished product.

Sometimes, photos of your work come out a bit warped.  Since that was the case with last night's purse I thought I would share a photo that did the color a little more justice.
