I took apart the portions of the purse that didn't work and made some corrections.  I then proceeded to sew it back together.  I'm much happier with the end result than I thought I would be but I will say that my pattern needs a little more thought and revamping for it to work properly.

Here are slightly better pictures of the blue and white purse I made last night.

I bought three yards of this fabric the other day and had intended to use it to make a large coiled basket.  But as it turns out, it's absolutely terrible for basket making.  The pattern gets so jumbled it makes no sense whatsoever when you look at it.  When I realized I couldn't use it for basket making I decided to use it for another project.  But what?  That's when I decided to change things up a bit. Since I love purses and have only ever made two in my life, one several years ago and one the previous day just as an out of the blue thing, I decided to move forward in this direction.

I worked on this particular purse from a pattern I drew earlier in the day.  The purse didn't come out perfectly, as is often the case on your first pattern making attempt, but a little modification here and there should correct the problems I ran into and help bring this puppy to completion tomorrow.

See you then.

I thought I would change it up today and make a purse.  This is only the second purse I've ever made and I'll be making some changes to it tomorrow.  For now, this is what it looks like:

Since this was a practice purse I didn't worry about what fabric I used for the lining.

Since I didn't like how I had originally worked the top of this yellow and green basket I went ahead and reworked it.  It looks better now though the stitching, unstitching and restitching left it looking a little battered.  Since the baskets will be used by kids at church it isn't a big deal.  I think they'll enjoy them either way.

Well, I'm back in the game!  After yesterday's snafus with my machines I not only went out and bought more needles I also bought another machine.  My new machine runs beautifully and I was able to finish one of yesterday's basket projects.

Yesterday I had high hopes of spending the day crafting but sometimes things don't go as planned.  One sewing machine was skipping stitches and then broke a needle; I didn't replace the needle because I couldn't find where on earth I had put any of my replacement needles!  Another machine couldn't handle the crafting projects and after starting two baskets I gave up and decided to sweep my craft room floor.  After sweeping I moped around the house for a while then decided to give crafting another try and spent some time making key fobs.

The blue and green key fobs were made from fat quarters I bought yesterday and the little beige and white ones were made from dress straps that were a little too long.

(I save most of my scraps in boxes and drawers because you never know when they might come in handy).
